Thank you for meeting with me this past week to review tree problems at Elm Place.
Indeed, the two Norway maple trees we looked at should be removed and replaced.
The tree between 624/622 is causing cracking of the garage foundation and lifting the
driveway pavers. The damage caused by the tree at 604 has already necessitated the
replacement of the driveway once and several large roots growing toward the home
foundation and driveway have been severed closer to the tree trunk than is
recommended by Arboriculture Best Management Practices — potentially rendering the
tree unstable. There is no other mitigation option than removal because of the size of the
trees and their proximity to structures.

Dear Drurys and Snyders:

tree from between your houses.
We understand this maple tree is between your properties and has caused some damage
to driveways and a garage, and if left in place will cause additional damage. You have said
that you would replace this tree with a Dogwood or a Japanese Maple at your own expense
when approved.
After consideration we the Elm Place Association Board have given our approval
for this tree to be removed and replaced by you.
