This residence is next door to us and we understand that the owners are planning to add a second story to the top
of their existing home. While they may have not yet submitted request for permit, we are writing in advance to
express our strong concern that the measurements gathered from the comers of the existing structure to cal-
culate the total height of 25 feet or less, may not have been taken from the existing grade. This concerns us
because the specific height of this addition will obstruct our view and every inch matters.
It is important to note that my wife and I do not object to our neighbor s right to build an addition and add a sec-
ond level to their home. We simply want to ensure that careful attention has been given to the calculation of the
height of the structure as from the existing grade and not the built-up grade that has accumulated in the weeks
and months leading up to the permit request.

In summary, the sole purpose of this letter is to inform the city of the recent changes on the property specifically
around the comers of the house. These changes coming right before a request for permit to build up definately
raises concern to us since their end height will have a direct effect on our view.
We request that once plans have been submitted and inspection completed, that we be contacted and informed
of the findings and allowances with regard to the height limit of the addition at 646 Dayton St.
