I went to the Edmonds Building Dept this morning to start the
procedure for obtaining a Building Permit to add a 22-30 ft* garage
to our existing dwelling.
Since our property is located in the North Meadowdale "Slide Area"t
Mr. Hal Reeves had some condern regarding the City's liability in the
event of a future slide.
I took our preliminary building plans to Reid, Middletont the
Edmonds Engineering firm most familiar with the Meadowdale areal and
went over them with Allen Morgan. His only suggestion was the addition
of two inches of crushed rock and a layer of 4-mil visqueen under the
slab to minimize possible dampness. I would suggest that we revise
the plans to include Mr. Morgan's suggestions.
In order to minimize the City's liability, my wife and I would be
pleased to submit a legal hold -harmless agreement as a part of the
Building Permit procedure in accordance with whatever the City Attorney
suggests.
After residing on the site in question for more than 40 yearsp we
are fully aware of the landslide hazardsp and accept the full responsi-
bility for any damage incurred by the structures owned by us or our
heirs. We would appreciate its if the City would expedite the permit
process for this minor project.

I have studied the provisions of the special requirements of the
Meadowdale Drainage Area document from your officep and have concluded
that the requirements listed are redundant' out -dated and not applicable
to the small project we are seeking a Permit for. Subsequent to the
inclusion of our property in the Roger Lovre Landslide Hazard Repol7ty we have
obligated ourselves to a $109000 sewer and drainage improvement project
which is working beautifully.
I am hereby requesting a waiver to the special requirements of the
Meadowdale Drainage Area document as they pertain to a 22 x 30 ft# garage
that I would like to construct on my property at 15701 75th Pl. W*
The building plansp on file in your officep have been scrutinized by
Allen Morgan, of Reidq Middletong the Engineering firm most familiar with
the Meadowdale area. His suggestions have been incorpotated into the final
plans. I can assure you that we have excellent plans that will be executed
on a stablep slide -free site.
In order to minimize the City's liabilityy my wife and I would be
