We have received and reviewed the May 14th letter from the City of Edmonds regarding the
proposed alternate design.
Item 2: Letter of Concurrence
As the Mechanical Engineer of Record for this project, ACCO Engineered Systems has
reviewed the proposed Alternate Design and concurs that the proposed alternate design
meets the intent of the applicable codes and is compatible with the mechanical system
design and equipment.
Item 3: Alterations to Existing Mechanical Drawings
After reviewing the proposed alternate design with the fire alarm contractor, general
contractor, and project architect it was determined that no modifications to the mechanical
drawings were required based on the alternate design approach that was chosen. The
alternate design relies on the fire alarm system, smoke detectors and interlocks with roll
down doors to achieve the objective of preventing smoke from entering the corridor. The
sequence of operation resides in the fire alarm control panel and devices necessary to
accomplish isolation of the heat pumps are shown in the revised fire alarm drawings.
