Call (425) 771-0220, Revised on 8/22112 B -Land Use Application Page I of] 30 March, 2016 Mike Clugston Associate Planner City of Edmonds Dear Mr. Clugston PR k'XR i R i � ulN .ki 9Y��da:,u C0 Ii' 1, Ei"I Tree thinning project at 17015 and 17035 76th Avenue West Edmonds WA 98026 As you know from our previous discussions, there is a recorded Puget Sound view easement (tree/vegetation height restriction easement), # 8705120211, which was recorded with the city on May 12, 1987, and which burdens the property at 17035 76th Avenue West, Edmonds WA 98026. There is currently a stand of alder and aspen trees on the 17035 761h Avenue West property which spans across this property's northern property line into the property at 17015 76th Avenue West. This stand of trees is in violation of the view easement described above. In order to bring these trees back into compliance with the easement, we would need to remove more than half of the height of the trees which would almost certainly result in them dying. So, instead, we would like to ask the city whether we may be allowed to crown thin the trees, and reduce their height by no more than one third, in essence creating holes in the foliage which would restore some of the views of the Puget Sound. The tree pruning will be performed by an ISA -Certified Arborist, Geno Wells of Washington Tree Experts, who does a lot of tree cutting work for the City of Edmonds. Please see Mr. Wells' report, attached. Please note that I have included two 'Land Use Application' forms, as I was unable to get the 'Property Owner' information for two property owners onto one form. However, I have submitted just this one cover letter and one fee for the project, as you recommended in your e- mail.
