I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can sign off on
it I need the following:
1.Parking: As I reported in my telephone message to you on September 29, 2006, I need to make sure
that adequate parking is being provided. This can be done by determining if the former use and
proposed use are the same for purposes of parking requirements. The proposed use appears to be
professional offices with on-site customer service, which requires a parking ratio of 1 space per 400
square feet of gross floor area. If, on the other hand, the previous use had no on-site customer service,
they would only have to provide parking at a ratio of 1 parking space per 800 square feet of gross
floor area. In that case, we would need a survey of the entire building and determine how much of
the building is providing office space with customer service, and how much without. I show that 43
parking spaces were being provided as of November 8, 2004. The building has a gross floor area of
18,431 square feet, according to the original building permit.
