I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can sign off on
it I need the following:
1.Height Calculations:
a.Per the height calculation handout and the code referring only to “buildings,” uncovered decks
are excluded from the height calculation rectangle. Please revise your height calculations as
follows:
(i)Shrink the height calculation rectangle so that points A and D line up with the wall of the new
addition and modify their elevations as needed.
(ii)Recalculate the height calculations as needed, including average grade and maximum allowed
height.
(iii)Make changes to the height calculations on the
building elevations as needed.
b.The datum point should be a point that cannot be changed easily and will not be moved with
construction. If the bottom of the telephone pole is not in concrete, please choose a point that is
more permanent. Also, after discussing with the inspector, since the addition is at the rear of the
house, a datum point at the rear of the house would be convenient. If the landing for the garage
door to remain will not be disturbed with the construction, then you could use a point on that as
your datum point (i.e.: Northwest corner of the landing for the northern basement door on the
west side of the house @ 96.5 feet)
(i)Please provide a datum point that is a permanent point of reference.
2.Reduced Site Plans: Please provide a reduced site plan at 1 inch = 20 feet scale that fits on an 8.5 by
11 inch sheet. This helps us when we microfiche records.

Please make all submittals to the Development Services Permit Coordinator, and provide two copies of
any revised plans or elevations and three copies of any site plans. Your existing plans and elevations may
also be red-lined.
