Fire Suppression Type I hood & suppression installed at second floor kitchen only. First floor Dining/activity will be residential range with exhaust hood for program cooking activities. Fire approved the Suppression plans for UL-300 on floor 2 only. Fire Alarm The functional program intent is to prevent the dementia patients from using lobby/parlor hence the delayed egress limiters will be installed at each end of each "A-" and "B-unit" (wings) on the first floor and patio gates. The Wanderguard is an additional safeguard at exterior end only of A- and B-unit on the first floor and lobby (as backup in case of "escape"). The fire alarm plans are indicative of this arrangement. Fire approved Fire alarm system. They are called out at the (exterior doors only) of each of the 1st floor corridors and at the main entry-lobby entrance so it appears the patients will have free roam of the lobby/parlor as you describe on p. 4 COMMON ROOMS para 1 of the FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM-Edmonds. My question is that the same document on p. 3 DEMENTIA UNIT describes units A & B as a secured area not aparently including the lobby/parlor for patient use. 1) Please clarify your intent here. If you allow dementia patients access to lobby/parlor, it appears that the UP stairs and elevator must be"secured" as well, for once on the second floor they can circumvent the system and use the end stairwells to exit, downstream of proposed Wanderguard as proposed on fire alarm plans. (The Wanderguard relays could be moved to the stairway exit doors vs. proposed corridor doors that would Wanderguard-protect all floors exiting. Also, the 1st floor (interior doors) architectural plans are showing DE-delayed egress from each of the wings to the exit as well as to lobby/parlor area. 2) Is this compatible with the Wanderguard arrangement you intend above? and 3) Are the DE-delayed egress and Wanderguard systems the same or separate security systems/features?
