The following project has been evaluated under the Edmonds Community Development Code and the 2003 International Codes. th 1. Correct plans to show 7803 and 7805 218 St SW addressing. 2. Maintain fire hydrant(s) and approved fire department access roads during demolition and construction phases of project. Arrange preconstruction meeting with FD (425- 771-0213) and interested city departments to identify access impairments and safety considerations for existing tenants’ use. 3. Sheet A1.0, P1.0, and civils: provide fire lane striping from driveway to driveway, specified additionally as follows: a. Fire Department access roads are required to be of 20' paved width with a vertical clearance of no less than 13’ 6”. b. Fire lane shall be striped on both boundaries with 4” yellow perimeter striping and identified with words “FIRE LANE – NO PARKING”. Letters shall be 12” high with 2” stroke spaced 50 lineal feet on alternating insides of lane. 4. Townhome-style dwellings constructed under the IRC and containing 5 or more units are required to be sprinklered (ECDC 19.25.040). Four IRC designed townhome units will not require sprinklers. Sheet R0.00 calls buildings NOT SPRINKLERED yet C02 and ROW sheets show fire protection lines to new structures. Clarify intent and resolve conflicting information. Use the DCDA for #5. 5. Sheet C02 Callout private fire service main. Additional private hydrant at the center of the drive loop must meet mains and service line requirements with 8” dead-end (or 8” looped) service main. ECDC 19.25.065 6. Sheet R0.0 Call out permits/submittals required: (#6 a)-d) with fire sprinkler-see #4 above)), and Fire Protection Footprint. a) Fire Connection Permit Callout Fire Connection Permit. Fire Connection must be submitted at the same time as your civil engineering plans. Fire connection permit is required for the installation of the underground supply for your fire protection system. City of Edmonds Fire Marshal   Underground design must be stamped by registered PE or a Level III (WA) fire sprinkler contractor AND the installer must also stamp the plans. The installer must be either Level III or Level “U” fire sprinkler contractor licensed by the State. Provide three copies of plans showing all valves, vault location, post indicating valve, fire department connection and piping to include size and material, hydraulic calculations, thrust blocking with calculations, pipe bury depth and any and all other materials used and their fire protection listings. RCW 18.160.070 / RCW 18.27.110 b) Fire Sprinkler System Permit Callout Fire Sprinkler System permit required for modifications to automatic fire sprinkler systems. IFC 105.7.1 c) Fire Alarm Permit Fire alarm system is required for the purposes of off-site sprinkler system monitoring, local alarm audible/visual notification and exterior audibility. IFC 903.4.2 d) Fire Safety & Evacuation Guide Provide a guide which describes the location, function and use of fire protection equipment and appliances accessible to residents, including fire alarm systems, smoke alarms, and portable fire extinguishers in R2 apartments and condominiums. Sheet A2.11 Provide smoke alarm at ground level in foyer greater than one full level below upper level. IFC 907.2.10.1.2.3 / IRC R313.1.3 8. Post approved address on south elevations. New buildings shall have approved address numbers placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters.
