The purpose of our work was to verify that geotechnical engineering elements of consu•uction were completed in accordance with our recommendations and construction drawings approved by the City of Edmonds. We previously submitted copies of our field memos to you, Longitude 122, LLC, and the City of Edmonds.. Our geotechnical observations were as follows: 1. Soldier Pile Shoring Installation We observed the installation of cantilevered soldier piles at the soutlieast corner of Building 9. All piles were installed in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations, the shoring design, and the project drawings approved by the City of Edmonds. 2. &cavalion Observation We observed the excavation for Building 9. Structural fill Material and Required Compaction We performed periodic observation and compaction testing of structural fill placed in the building interior and as wall backfill. Based on the results of our field density testing and site observation of contractor means and methods, it is our opinion that the structural fill we observed was placed and compacted in general. accordance with our recommendations. 4. Soil Bearing Verification We observed prepared foundation subgrades for Building 9. Foundation subgrades consisted of adequately compacted structural fill or dense to very dense native.sand and stiff to very stiff native silt and clay that are suitable for support of foundations designed for allowable bearing capacities of 3,000 pounds per square foot (pso. 5. Building Drainage Verification We observed installation of subsurface drainage placed around the perimeter of Building 9. All drainage systems we observed were installed in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations and the approved project plans. Conclusions Based on our observations during construction, it is our opinion that the geotechnical items discussed above were completed in general conformance with the recommendations presented in the referenced geotechnical reports and with the construction drawings approved by the City of Edmonds.
