In review of the drainage report and associated plans, it was found that the following
information, corrections, or clarifications are needed. Please redline plans or submit three
(3) sets of revised plans/documents with a written response to each of the items below to
Theresa Umbaugh.
GENERAL
Please apply a correction factor to the measured infiltration rate to account for variation

in the measured infiltration rates (if any), effect of unregulated maintenance of the
system, and natural clogging of the system. Correction factors have a minimum value
of two (1992 Ecology manual) based on the aforementioned factors. (The design
infiltration rate is equal to the measured rate divided by the correction factor.)
Alternately, as included in the document but not used in the design, the Edmonds
sizing equation can be use for the design of downspout infiltration systems only, using
the average measured infiltration rate.
A rain garden along the northern part of the site may be an alternative to consider for

roof and pavement runoff. This is an option and is not a requirement. Rain garden
design should be per the Puget Sound Low impact Development Manual (2005). If
designed and constructed correctly, this could be an amenity to boost the value of the
property.
DRAINAGE PLAN
1. Revise the construction sequence as follows:
#1: revise to state engineering inspector instead of city engineer.
#8: revise to include verbiage once site has been permanently stabilized.
2. It is unclear how the roof downspouts connect to the proposed infiltration system.
Please revise plans to show the connection.
3. Please revise the drainage plan sheets per the attached redline markups.
4. Show location of water service line from the meter to the house.
5. Revise plans to show a 6 cleanout with 12 locking cast iron lamphole cover on the
right-of-way side of the property line.
