RE: Application #: bld20100352
Project: Central Power Plant Stevens Hospital Fire Connection
th
Project Address: 21601 76 Ave W
During review of the above noted application, it was found that the following information,
corrections, or clarifications are needed. Please redline plans or submit three (3) sets of revised
plans/documents with a written response to each of the items below to Theresa Umbaugh.
City of Edmonds handouts, standard details and development code can be referenced on the City
website.
The following comments were provided April 19, 2010 in review of the fire sprinkler permit
for Stevens Hospital. Application has been made for a fire connection permit, but the plan
submittal is identical to that which was reviewed with the fire sprinkler permit. Please
respond to/provide the following so review of the fire connection permit can continue.
th
1.A fire sprinkler permit has been received for installation of a new system at 21601 76 Ave W.
Plans indicate connection to the water main, but do not provide the detail necessary to provide
approval for this element of work. A separate fire connection permit will be required. Please
refer to City handout B32 or contact Theresa Umbaugh for submittal requirements. The
following items will need to be included in the submittal:
a.Site plan showing location of water main and proximity to the building, parking lot,
drive aisles, etc.
b.Size of water main and pipe material for existing main and proposed fire line.
c.Point of connection to the main line and method of construction to be used for making
connection.
d.Proximity of valve clusters to either side of the connection point. This will determine
whether additional inline valves will be required with this installation.
e.For a valve cluster connection, please refer to and incorporate standard detail E7.18.1.
2.Please provide an itemized cost estimate, including units and unit prices, for both on-site and
improvements within the easement, including traffic control.
A bond is required to be placed for all right-of-way improvements (improvements within the
o
City easement). The amount of the bond will be based on 120% of the City approved
bld20100352-Stevens Hosp-FDC-1 Page 1 of 2
estimate for all right-of-way improvements. The City will inform you of the appropriate
bond amount after review of the cost estimate. Bond forms can be obtained from Theresa
Umbaugh, Permit Coordinator 425-771-0220 or umbaugh@ci.edmonds.wa.us
Inspection fees for this project will be calculated at 2.2% of the 120% City approved
o
estimate for all improvements.
3.Please submit a traffic control plan for review and approval.
4. 6/9/2010 comment Show the location of the sprinkler riser room within the building. The
distance from the point of connection at the water main to the fire sprinkler room is needed to
determine whether a DCDA vault will be required on the exterior of the building.
Please contact me at 425-771-0220 or by e-mail at mcconnell@ci.edmonds.wa.us if you have
specific questions regarding these plan corrections.
