Stormwater Engineer Comments:
9/27/10 Not done. The report referenced below should include an offsite downstream analysis
to show adequate capacity for additional runoff from the proposed project. The project
8/18/10
needs to be classified per ECDC 18.30.50. Once classified, the report should describe how
the project plans to comply with applicable minimum requirements (See Handout E72)

9/27/10 Not done. Submit detail and design information for infiltration trench.Appendix C of
theSupplement provides the acceptable methods for obtaining a design infiltration rate for
infiltration trenches. Using the Soil Conservation Service values in the Soil Survey of
Snohomish County Area, Washington (1983) is not an approved method. In addition to the
methods in Appendix C of the Supplement, the City also accepts the "D10 methodology"

described in Volume III, Section 3.36, number 2 (including Table 3.8) in the 2005 Department
of Ecology Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington. Once the design
infiltration rate is established, the City has tables for determining the size of the infiltration
trench based on the square feet of impervious area draining to the facility or the sizing can be
obtained by the applicant using the modeling parameters in the Supplement.

Additional Drainage/Utility Plan Comments
:
1.9/27/10 Submit corrected worksheet: Please review definitions of exempt and non-exempt impervious
surface and area of disturbance. Any existing impervious surface constructed prior to 1977 that will be
replaced with impervious surface should be listed under “replaced, exempt”. Also grading area should
be total area (sf) of cut and fill areas (graded) i.e. add up all the square footage that you listed in the
grading calculations. Please resubmit corrected Worksheet. 8/18/10Include Classification Worksheet
from Handout E#72 with resubmission.
2.9/27/10 Ok.
3.9/27/10 Not done.8/18/10Patio and sidewalk areas shall be connected to the stormwater system. Add
flow arrows in these areas to indicate how runoff will be captured.
4.9/27/10 Show the entire tightline around the house and flow direction. 8/18/10Show connection of
tightline/roof drains to storm system. Include directional arrows to indicate flow.
5.9/27/10 Ok.
6.9/27/10 Ok.
7.9/27/10 Not done. 8/18/10Add invert elevations of proposed storm drain clean out on east side of house
and for the proposed trench drain.
8.9/27/10 Not done. 8/18/10Please provide recorded easement for storm drain crossing lot 2.
9.9/27/10 Ok.
10.9/27/10 Not done. Acceptable to add note: “Utilities will be installed to meet minimum separation
requirements” 8/18/10Please call out measure of separation between utilities.

14.9/27/10 Note on plans. 8/18/10If intending to use any portion of the existing side sewer, property line
to house, then it is the owner’s responsibility to TV line and submit results to Public Works to determine
if in good condition for reuse.
15.9/27/10 Note on plans. If intention is to use existing side sewer lateral, from main to property line,
then it will need to be TV’d by Public Works to determine if in good working condition. Call sewer
division at Public Works to schedule, 425-771-0235. If condition is not acceptable to reuse,
owner/contractor shall be responsible to replace sewer lateral.

Storm Water Pump:
1.9/27/10 Not Done. Please review Handout #E62 for requirements for a single family residential sewage
pump (same as storm drain pump.)
A pre-design report to justify the installation of a pump station must be submitted to the City Engineer
prior to design.” Checklist and standard details are also provided in the handout.
Requirements include “The engineer of record must be registered in the State of Washington
and have had prior experience in designing similar systems to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer. Qualifications shall be included within the design report.”
See Storm Drainage comments for additional information.

5.9/27/10 Add standard detail to plans.Force lines shall not be installed in the public right of way. Show
force line to gravity transition on plans, Add standard detail E#6.9.
6.9/27/10 Add standard detail to plans. Backflow device to be installed on gravity section of sewer pipe
on private property. Add standard detail E#7.7.
7.9/27/10 Not done. Note on plans “Location of force main will be identified by installation of 12 gage
tracer wire wrapped and taped a minimum of every 10ft.
8.9/27/10 Ok.
9. 9/27/10 Ok.
9/27/10 RESUBMITTAL COMMENTS:
1.. Label garage, area between west side of house and steps to walkway.
2. Change grading calc units from “yards” to “cubic yards” .
nd
3. Provide a traffic control plan for use of Sunset and 2 Ave N.
4. Label distance between CB#1 and Inlet#1
5. Driveway cut shall be consistent with City of Edmonds standard detail E2.26. Add detail to plans.
6. Driveway access shall be sized to include 2 lots, minimum of 15’ easement and 12’ minimum paved.
See City of Edmonds standard detail E2.1. Add dimensions and detail to plans.
7. Patios and walkways do not appear to be added in full to the impervious surface calculations. If included
with building and eaves, please label as “covered” and show roofline. If not included, please correct
impervious calculations on Worksheet and plans .
8. Will the existing concrete area in front of house be replaced or will it be landscaped… please clarify on
plans. Will the existing driveway access be replaced? If so, label “to be replaced”. Please confirm that
both areas are represented on the Worksheet and in the impervious surface calculations.
9. Impervious surface calculations do not match numbers on plan, for example, plans say driveway
761.77sf while the impervious calcs have 629.2sf. Please review each item to identify discrepancies. If
this difference is due to eave coverage, please show outline of eaves on plans.
10. Storm pipe between CB#1 and pump will be under a drivable surface. Pipe under drivable surface must
be SDR 35 or ductile iron if less than 1ft cover. Please label on plans.
11. Show all invert elevations for pump basin on drainage plan.

1. Add Catch Basin detail consistent with City of Edmonds (COE) standard detail.
2. Double check the anti-floatation calculations. Ensure that the upward buoyant force is calculated
correctly for the 1 ft radius pump basin. Also include the effect of the upward buoyant force on the
concrete.
3. The pump sizing calculations need to be redone. The cut sheets from the pump manufacturer indicate the
model SE 511 AU has been selected. The calculations, however, use information from the pump
performance for a model SEV pump. Also, include a chart or a table showing the system curve and the
pump curve for the designed system-gpm-as the independent variable and total head as the dependant
variable.
4. Show location of electrical panel.
5. Add note: Lid to be flush with asphalt and must be traffic rated.”
6 Design cross-section states “165lf of sch 40 pvc force main” , please correct.
7. Show air vent connection on pump.
8. Provide minimum cover on force main to protect from anticipated loading.
9. Pump design plan does not match the “Site/Drainage etc. plan”. Rockery is shown on property line.
All plans must be consistent.
Please resubmit 3 copies of the all revised and additional plans/documents to a Development Services
Coordinator. Please contact me at 425-771-0220 if you have specific questions regarding these plan
corrections.
