Fire Watch Fire Watcher Responsibilities and Requirements
1.The fire watcherFire Watch must be dedicated to fire and emergency watch tasks, ing and not be
involved in other tasks including host services, food preparation, maintenance, or intake..
2.The Fire Watch fire watcher must be on duty and alert from the start of lights out (people
sleeping) until lights on (people awoken) during all periods when guests are sleeping.
3.The Fire Watch fire watcher responsibilities are:
1.watch for fires and safety hazards
2.communicate and enforce prohibitions on open flames, electric heaters, and smoking in the
building
3.maintain clear exits including a 5 ft clearance inside and out
4.ensure that exit paths are maintained in the sleeping area per the sleeping mat layoutExit

5.call 9-1-1 in case of fire or other emergency.
6.supervise exiting of the building and calling of 911 in case of identified fire or alarm
emergency, triggering including moving directing guests to a meeting place away from the
building a minimum of 50 feet or greater
7.6.call 911 in case of #5 above
7.operate fire extinguishers and kitchen hood suppression system as is prudent so as to
extinguish a fire while NOT risking the safety of any individualsto extinguish the fire once
the alarm is sounded.
4.It is the responsibility of the Fire Watch to remain alert at all times. Should the fire

member who will then become the active fire watcher
