Star Mini Mart & Deli Sign at 7533 Olympic View Drive
On behalf of the Planning Division, I have reviewed the above building permit application.
During review of the subject submittal, it was found that the following information, corrections,
or clarifications need to be addressed. Please respond to the following items, so that I can
complete my review:
Total Sign Area
1.: The property at 7533 Olympic View Drive is zoned BC (Community
Business). Pursuant to Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) 20.60.025.A, the
maximum total sign area for uses in the BC zone is one square foot of sign area for each
lineal foot of wall containing the main public entrance. The plans submitted with the sign
application indicates Star Mini mart & Deli has 48 feet of store frontage, which means the
maximum permanent signage allowed is 48 square feet. This allowed square footage is
applied towards all permanent signs on the site. The proposed new sign is 46.66 square feet.
However, there is another sign on the front of the store (Vietnamese Sandwich & Deli) which
appears to be a little larger than the proposed sign. These two signs together would exceed
the maximum allowed signage area of 48 square feet. In order to install the new sign, the
other sign (Vietnamese Sandwich & Deli) will have to be removed.Alternatively, if the
existing sign is 48 square feet or less, it may be resurfaced to meet your needs.
Please revise your sign plans so the total sign area for the subject property does not exceed
48 square feet.
