During review of the subject submittal, it was found that the following information, corrections, or
clarifications would need to be addressed. All Handouts and Standard Details referred to in these
comments can be accessed at our website: www.ci.edmonds.wa.us by clicking City Government / City
Department / Public Works / Engineering Division:
1. Please include details of each proposed erosion control measure that is consistent with
City of Edmonds standard details. (Adding C of E details directly to the plan set is fine).
12/1/11 A Rockery is not considered an erosion control measure. Erosion control measures are methods
used during construction to prevent erosion, dirt and silt from leaving the site. Discharges from sites caused
by construction entering the storm system or nearby water sources, streams etc. is considered an illicit
discharge violation resulting in fines, from the City and possibly the Dept of Ecology.
If you plan to construct a rockery, a separate permit is required.
2. Show location and extent of each measure to be installed on the site plan.
12/1/11 Please see the attached details. Please include the details you choose to use with your plans and
show where they will be installed on your site plan.
Keep in mind when choosing your control measures that erosion sediment control will be required with your
house construction as well.
Depending on the slope of the property and the distance between the construction and the edge of property,
sometimes vegetation will also be an effective erosion sediment control measure. If you choose to use
existing vegetation in some areas, please note distance between construction and property line, and
approximate slope on plans.
Please note that the details I have attached are only some of the possible erosion control measures that are
available.
Please resubmit 3 copies of the revised plans/documents to a Development Services Coordinator. Please
contact me at 425-771-0220 if you have specific questions regarding these plan corrections.
