RE: Planning Division comments for file BLD20130116 » Edmonds Yacht Sign
Greetings,
Thank you for submitting a building permit application for an illuminated wall sign at 465 Admiral Way in the
CW zone. I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it was found that
the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressed before the Planning Division
review can continue.
1.Sign Height: The sign appears to extend above the face of the wall, which is not permitted. It does,
however, appear to meet the 14’ height requirement. Per ECDC 20.60.020.A, please re-design the sign so it
does not extend above the face of the wall consistent with the code.
2.Total Sign Area: Are there any existing signs? If so, will they be removed? The total sign are for this
building appears to be 10.58 square feet, so I’ll just need to make sure that this sign plus any existing
signage remains under this limit.
3.Downtown Sign Conditions: Please review the following sign conditions for signs in the downtown (ECDC
20.60.020.M) and explain how this project meets each of the following requirements for illuminated
signage. If it does not meet these requirements, please revise the plans as necessary.
2.Internally illuminated signs in the downtown area and neighborhood commercial areas may only light the letters. The
background of a sign facemay not be illuminated.
3.Internally illuminated signs in the downtown area and the neighborhood commercial areas must be mounted on the
wall of the building. They may not be mounted on or under an attached awning.
4.Internally illuminated signs that use exposed neon may only be located in the interior of buildings in the downtown area
and the neighborhood commercial areas.
