OFFICIAL:., - - PROJECT ADDRESS: 9007 Olympic View Drive, Edmonds, WA 98026 Applicant: Steve Kissinger 9007 Olympic View Drive, Edmonds, WA 98026 n SCOPE OF WORK JAN 2 3 2014 DEVELOPMENT SERVICE! COUNTER The above address includes an in ground pool situated in an aluminum/glass enclosure. This project has the following goals: 1) Fill in pool so that the enclosed pool area can be used as a green -house. 2) Allow the pool conversion to be 'reversible' — so that any potential future buyer can remove the fill. (compressed sand) and restore the pool if they so choose. 3) Install above ground flower/vegetable growing areas. These growing areas will be in raised beds io facilitate access. Current Stage: 1) Pool has not filled this year— so there is no water in pool. 2) .Vinyl liner has been removed and disposed of. 3) There is no drain installed in the pool. Historically, draining the pool involved using a submersible pump to pump the water via hose to the storm drain system. 4) Filling the pool is done via hose from a faucet attached to the nearby garage. There are no utility connected water lines or water service in or out of the pool enclosure. 5) The pool utilizes a separate propane tank that is filled on demand (usually once a year). 6) The pump, heater, and filter system circulate water from the pool intake/outflow valves via underground 2" pipes to a 'pool utility' room located in the nearby garage. 7) There is an additional water pipe from the pool pump/filter for backwashing the pool filter. The outflow from this backflow operation ends at the storm sewer. PROPOSED WORK: 1) Call the propane company and have them remove propane tank and cap off line going to pool heater. 2) Cap off inflow from pool to prevent'sand fill from entering water inflow line. 3) Install vertical 18" drain pipe in deepest part of pool. Pipe will be wrapped with filter fabric to insure that the pipe remains clear of sand fill. 4) Install sump -pump in bottom of vertical drain. Outflow from pump will be sent to the pool outflow and routed through the backwash piping to MI--61°YS f&.Av4-nkJ4 n 1 5) Power off existing pool heater/filter/pump systems. CIsl / "Al BML 01Z 6) Reroute the back flow piping to bypass the current pool pump. $`(,` ,may omGlr &90*090M 7) Test the sump -pump and outflow system. -fo 77 Sim fTAt ,/ 1(0 ®r— samsqrw N#T or:--mrTm . JAN 2 3 2014 8) Fill the in -ground pool to the deck surface with sand — compressing the sand every foot jjVELOPMENT SERVICE depth. The pool depth (measured from deck surface to bottom of pool) ranges from 4 6 o COUNTER almost 8'. It is estimated that it will take 180 cubic yards of sand fill. 9) When final sand level is compressed — add 3" to 6" of crushed rock and/or pavers to provide a level and comfortable walking surface that is flush with the existing pool deck. _f NOTES: We do not expect much if any rain -water to enter the enclosed structure as the roof provides a weather-proof enclosure, but some garden water runoff from above ground planters and potentially an occasional indoor washing will result in water entering the sand. The existing gunite surface of the pool is sloped, and any water should find its way easily to the vertical drain system installed at the deep end of the pool for pump -extraction. The water will be pumped up through the vertical drain and exit the pool enclosure through the existing filter outflow. The outflow tubing will then bypass the existing pump and go through the backwash piping to the storm drain.
