RE: INSPECTION REPORT — CORRECTIONS FOR PLAN CHECK # 2015-1486
FENCE AND GATE AT 9131184 TH ST SW
Dear Jim,
I performed an inspection today of the permitted fence in the locations noted on the attached
plan mark up. In short, the fencing as constructed does not match the approved permit and
does not meet code requirements for fence height. As you know, the Edmonds Community
Development Code requires allows fences up to a maximum of 6' from the top of the fence to
the lowest original grade (ECDC 17.30.000.A) except when a retaining wall/rockery three feet in
height or greater is contiguous to and below a fence, the fence may be no more than 4' above
the top of the wall/rockery or the finished grade, whichever is less (ECDC 17.30.000.D).
The portions of fence north and south of the house and along the east property line where the
rockery is not present range in height from 6'— 7'. These portions of fence may be no more
than 6' as noted above. The section of fence above the rockery ranges from at least 6' to
upwards of 12' at the northeast corner. As noted, the fence above the rockery can be a
maximum of 4' in height. Please revise the height of the fence in all locations to be permit and
code compliant by March 4, 2016 and contact me for a follow-up inspection.
