A revised geotech memohas been received and the plans have been updated with several
notes. A more concise list of plan review comments is being provided below, instead of
going item by item from the preivous plan review comments. It is challenging to represent
civil construction plan related items, including stormwaterelements,on anarchitectural
site plan. It may be best to separate civil improvements from the overallsite plan to
provide the necessary clarity.
1.The infiltration trench design is wrongly specified by reference to Fig. 3.2 of the 2005 DOE
SWMM. The City’s infiltration trench is specified in Figure A-3 of Handout E72B. The
differences are the depth of trench varies and the wash rock specification provides for more
storage. Please revise memorandum and plans accordingly.
2.The infiltration sizing factor of 4.0% is meant for 3 foot depth of aggregate. Figure 3.2 of
the 2005 DOE SWMM only specifies 18-inches of aggregate depth, onlyhalf of the required
depth.Revise plans and memo accordingly.
3.The Infiltration Sieve Analysisprovided in the geotech memorandum, shows termination of
the particle size distribution at 0.074 mm (#200 sieve). This is consistent with the Unified
Soil Classification System. The City specifies the use of USDA for soil classification. See
City handout E72D.
4.Provide additional information for each of the storm lines connecting roof and driveway
runoff to the infiltration trenches, includingpipe size, material, slope, inverts, length, and
intended construction method(a portion of the pipe is shown under theexisting driveway).
5.The larger trench is specified as 86-feet in the trench length calculation, yet is shown as 88-
feet on the plan. Please confirm 88-feet is what you intend to construct.
6.Provide information for each of the pre-trench collection systems. Callout catch basin size,
pipe connectionsand invert elevations.
7.Provide a detail on how the infiltration trenches will overflow to Talbot Road. Infiltration
trenches are flat bottomed, hence overflow from the system will be everywhere along the
trench unless a specific overflow has been designed. Please keep in mind that the property
slopes to the northeast, so as designed, thisis the direction the overflowfrom the system
would naturallygravitate which would negatively impact the adjacent property owner.
8.A filter fabric fence has been shown along thesouthwest property line, which is on the
uphill side of the project. Revise plans to show the silt fence on the down slope sideof the
project. The silt fence shall be placed such that it prevents sediment from leaving the site
during construction.
