Dear Ms. Guffey:
I have reviewed the above building permit applicationforthe Planning Division,and it was found that the
following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressedbefore review can continue:
SignStandards:
1.Boxed cabinet signs and internally illuminated signs at properties within the “Westgate
Community Commercial” area of the Comprehensive Plan are conditionally permitted as long as they
comply with the applicable standards of ECDC 20.60.020.M. I have reviewed your proposal against the
applicable standardsof ECDC 20.60.020.Mand have found that the following standards have not been
met with the proposed sign:
2.Internally illuminated signs in the downtown area and neighborhood commercial areas may only
light the letters. The background of a sign face may not be illuminated.
8.The background color of a boxed cabinet sign face must be coordinated with and compliment the
colors used on the building.
9.The background color of a boxed cabinet sign face must be opaque and not allow any internal
illumination to shine through.
Please revise the proposed sign in order to be consistent with the above standards.
Hours of Illumination:
2.Pursuant to ECDC 20.60.020.H, “No commercial sign shall be illuminated
after 11:00 p.m. unless the commercial enterprise is open for business and then may remain on only as
long as the enterprise is open.”Please indicate that a timer will be provided with the signin orderto
ensure compliance with this requirement.
Height:
3.Please indicate the height of the proposed sign on the plans.
