I'm not sure that's what your landscape architects had in mind. I was going to suggest simulating the flames with lights, lasers or use a water fountain. It appears that I will need to put a grill on top of this fire pit and make the pit become an outdoor grill. Section 5.22.030 C: This section shall not apply to: (1) Fires which are burned for fire-fighting training; or (2) small cooking fires (consisting solely of charcoal, natural gas, propane or seasoned natural wood) and campfires at designated state, county and city campgrounds. Before I change this designation, could you please confirm that this will be in compliance? We have an outdoor gas fireplace on the first pool area with an open front (and flame), however the gas exhaust runs up a chimney. From my perspective, there is not really a difference in the end result. Do you know of a way that I can be in compliance? If I install a hood above this proposed fire pit to allow the exhaust to run through a exhaust pipe, would it be in compliance? What about gas barbeque grills or charcoal grills, are they in violation as well? I don't believe we made it clear that this is a gas fire pit, no logs or wood will be burned in it. I must admit that I did not take the time to look up the code but does this information make a difference to your comment? Please see the attached photo that is similar to the concept that we are interested in building. Thank you, Ross Woods 206-374-0414 ext. 15 office 206-617-7155 cellular Page 2
