2.Reference Department of Ecology Criteria for Sewage Works Design (Orange Book).
3.Provide a complete operations and maintenance manual for the facility. Reference Criteria for Sewage
Works Design Section C2-1. 7.
Design Report Comments:
4.Provide introduction explaining relevant qualifications of design Engineer per #E61 requirements.
5.Provide an introduction describing the apartment complex the lift station is serving and if any future
development could impact the system.
6.All sewage pump stations should be designed with capability for emergency power in case the primary
electrical feed is out of service per Section C2-1.8.3 of Criteria for Sewage Works Design and establish
bypass capability during an outage per C2-1.8.4.
7.Show all inverts on plan set in order to determine pit invert for pump head calculation.
8.Provide copies of supporting charts/tables from the 2012 Uniform Plumbing Code used to determine
fixture units in the Chart in Attachment A of the submitted calculations.
9.Provide detailed calculations and list assumptions made for determining total dynamic head and
losses.
10.Include head loss for all fittings (currently only a check valve is listed. There is more than one valve
and additional fittings). Include any tees/w
11.Gate valve shall be a resilient seat gate valve.
12.Each pump discharge should include a pressure gauge.
13.Reference CoE Design Standard #E61 Pre-Design Report Checklist for all calculations necessary as
part of a submittal. It appears at least the following calculations are missing: pump cycle time, wet
well capacity, flushing velocity, and buoyancy calculations to support the sizing of the concrete hold
down pad including assumption of groundwater table at grade and 20% safety factor.
14.Provide surge analysis for determining the possibility of hydraulic surges and transients and provide
any necessary conceptual design calculations. Reference Criteria for Sewage Works Design Section
C2-1. 5.
15.Sump basin capacity between pump on and off levels shall be sized to limit pump cycle time and not
exceed 10 starts per hour. For wetwell capacity calculations, reference Criteria for Sewage Works
Design Section C2-1.2.5.
16.Pump and system curves shall be developed using the actual proposed equipment. Model the system
selection, and minimum and maximum flows. Reference Criteria for Sewage Works Design Section
C2-1.2.2.
17.Provide calculations showing soil bearing pressure is adequate for sump basin at completely full level.
18.Include calculations verifying that 165 gal/dwelling unit of basin capacity is available.
19.Address measures taken to mitigate noise generated by the facility.
20.Address measures taken to manage grit, grease and clogging protection per Section C2-1.3 of Criteria
for Sewage Works Design.
21.Provide documentation that the existing force main satisfies the conditions in Criteria for Sewage
Works Design Section C2-3.
Site Plan Comments:
22.Show the 100-year flood plain line on the overall site plan if applicable. The station must be designed
to remain fully operational during the 100-year flood/wave action.
23.A hose bib on the building shall be within 15 feet of grinder pump. Show location of exterior hose bib
that meets this criteria. Reference Criteria for Sewage Works Design Section C2-.2.1.2 for additional
water supply requirements.
24.Show the sewer connection between the building and the existing/proposed system.
25.Show the location of the domestic and fire line to the building.
26.Wet well covers shall include provisions for padlocks. Note this on plan detail and specs.
27.Pump stations shall be equipped with ventilation that complies with NFPA code. Show vent pipe from
wet well on plan and detail.
28.Sump basin is to be fiberglass or HDPE
29.Show/label anti-floatation flange or steel plate molded into bottom of basin.
30.Confirm pump volute will be fully submerged by labeling on detail. Visually current location of pump
off level is below top of pump.
31.High wat
confirm this criteria is being met.
32.Show requirement of firm earth base or washed gravel under lift station base in detail.
33. main to avoid potential future maintenance issues.
Specifications Comments:
34.Include that all components used within the pump station or as part of the pressure main shall have a
source of supply and/or repair located within a 24-hour delivery time.
35.Pumps to have replaceable impeller and replaceable volute wear ring.
36.All hardware in the wet well and other vaults, including pump rails, float hangers, anchor bolts, etc.
shall be 316 stainless steel, not 416. Piping inside the wet well shall be brass or steel (non-corrosive).
37.Provide documentation that alarm requirements listed in #E61 and Criteria for Sewage Works Design -
Section C2-2 are being met.
38.Provide backfill specs meeting #E61.
39.Fire protection shall conform to the requirements of Standards for Fire Protection in Wastewater
Treatment and Collection Facilities (NFPA) 820.
