In response to your letter dated May 3, 2008 (and supplemental emails from your office)
regarding the referenced buildings, my office concurs with the applicability of 1973 UBC
Section 2203 Exception which states, `In Fire Zone 2 exterior walls fronting on streets or
yards having a width of at least 40 feet may be of unprotected construction.' Both
buildings are Type V-1 Hour construction and this exception would have applied at the
original construction since the buildings either front streets or yards_
Please obtain the applicant's copy of the approved plans and bring to City Hall for the
purpose of red -lining that copy and the City copy of all details showing the exterior one-
hour walls. At the same time the Assistant Building Official will re -stamp the changes
approved and you will return the applicant's set to the job site.
Please inform Theresa Umbaugh, Senior Permit Coordinator when you will come to City
Hall so that staff can be available to immediately process the changes.
