It is our understanding that the City's Inspector was unable to view the nailing patterns of the
plywood during the framing inspection. Based on the original approved plans, the walls where
plywood was replaced were not shear walls. Therefore the minimum nailing required for 15132"
sheathing per IBC 2006 Table 2304.5.1 is 6d common nails spaced at 6 -incites on center at edges
and 12 -inches on center at intermediate supports.
Based on photographs of the nailing patterns taken during the repairs and correspondence with the
contractor, these minimum nailing requirements were met.

1. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTINUOUSLY MONITOR EXISTING FRAMING DURING REPAIRS FOR POTENTIAL
DEFORMATION CAUSED BY UNOBSERVABLE DRY ROT, AND NOTIFY CG ENGINEERING IMMEDIATELY IF
DEFORMATION IS OBSERVED.
2. WE RECOMMEND THAT THE CONTRACTOR TREAT ALL STAINED WOOD MEMBERS PER RECOMMENDATIONS
