W., Edmonds, WA. 98026 Dear Mr. Chen, DAVE EARLINU MAYOR The City has received a complaint regarding a separate apartment unit developed at the subject property creating a duplex out of a single family residence. The property is located in a multi -family zone (RM -2.4) but a building permit is required to convert a single family residence to a duplex. The City and County have no record of a legal duplex being established at this location prior or after annexation in 1959. The County Assessor's Office still assesses the property as a single family residence. Corrective actions required: Please contact me at your earliest convenience by April 25, 2014 to respond to this letter and advise your compliance plan and schedule. If there is no response, an Order to Correct would be issued. By May 20, 2014, please submit a complete building permit application for the single- family to duplex remodel. You'll probably want to come in and speak with a permit coordinator to obtain the list of application materials. Or; The house will need to be converted back into a single family residence. This includes the following requirement: o Obtain a remodel permit for the construction required to re-establish interior access. An inspection will be required.
