Corrections or comments made during this review do not relieve contractor from compliance with the requirements of the drawings and specifications and do not authorize changes to contract cost. Contractor is responsible for: Dimensions which shall be confirmed and correlated at the job site; fabrication process and techniques of construction; coordination of his work with that of all other trades; performing his work in a safe manner. Sparling has reviewed the copy of submittal 135-230548001-1 – Seismic and Vibration for Mechanical Equipment received electronically on March 3, 2015, and our comments are as follows. (Note: All of our review comments are contained in this document. There are no markups on any of the information sheets submitted.) This submittal is a revision of the previous vibration isolation submittal. Sparling requested that the submittal be revised and resubmitted due to discrepancies between the spec and the submittal for the S-3 spring isolator that was located on the chiller. Specifically, a neoprene pad needed to be inserted between the spring and the plate, along with a loading distribution mechanism. The revised submittal (Revision 3, the most recent revision from VMC) places ‘Custom MS-2E vibration isolators with integral seismic restraint with Maxi-Flex Pads for 2” deflection’ on the chillers. These pads replace the original neoprene cup of the spring with VMC “Gray” elastomeric pads set beneath a metal plate. The submittal does not appear to specify the thickness or shape of the Maxi-Flex Pads pads, which should be ¾” to 1” thick. Please submit information on this product, such as specific cutsheets, and specify the thickness.
