Dear Mr. Dean,
GARY HAAKENSON
MAYOR
As we reviewed at your property last month, the guest house has been converted into a dwelling unit and
further, the garage/shop below the guest house has been converted to another dwelling unit. Both of these
developments took place without the required permits and approvals.
After review with the Building Official and Development Services Director, it was determined that the
guest house needs to convert back to a guest house and the shop/garage needs to convert back to a
shop/garage.
The following corrective actions must be completed by April 30, 2007.
l) Remove the cooking facilities (microwave) from the upper unit and convert it back to a "guest
house". The guest house "shall be used and/or designed for use primarily by guest and/or
servants primarily for sleeping quarters".
2) Obtain a plumbing permit for the sink of the lower shop/garage or remove it.
3) Remove any microwave, oven or cooking facilities from the lower shop/garage.
4) Remove the bathroom fixtures (toilet, tub, shower, bathroom sink) from the lower shop/garage.
5) Complete (please don't write in the margins) and sign the "Statement on Accessory Dwelling
Units and pay recording fee. This form and fee would be submitted to a Permit coordinator at the
Development Services Office..
6) Call for inspection of the above.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.
Sincerely,
Mike Thies
Code Enforcement Inspector
