Columbia Rim TI's.DOC EDMONDS FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM Date: 02/11/09 To: File From: Mike Smith, Fire Marshal 425-775-7720 Subject: Columbia Rim Building Plan Check 2009-0035 to 38 The Fire Department has the following comments: 1) Some of the uses proposed in your building require automatic fire sprinklers regardless of building construction. 2) High rack storage over 12 feet in height in excess of 2500 sq ft requires sprinklering. 2006 !FC Chapter 23 ( I misquoted 8 feet to you over the phone) 3) The parking/storing of automobiles in a S-2 occupancy requires sprinklering the building throughout (Suite D and possibly Suite C) 2006 IFC Chapter 903.2.9 Note: By changing the occupancy of Suite D from an S-2 to an M you may be able to store the classic cars for internet sales without requiring fire sprinklers. 4) You have gone to great lengths to avoid the sprinkler requirement which is OK. I would suggest you discuss some options with your architect/myself/Ann Bullis , Building Official/ to determine what businesses can occupy your building without requiring fire sprinklers.
