Please have your arborist, Neal Baker, suggest a tree species that you’d like to use as areplacementif the
removal of the fir treewere to be approved, as well as the planting area where the new replacement trees would
go. Please show this proposal on your landscape plan. I realize this site doesn’t have much landscaping to
begin with, but bringing the site more towards compliance with ECDC 20.13 (Landscaping Requirements)
would be the goal here. Please review the enclosed landscaping code and incorporate some of the code into
your landscape plan proposal.

NEW02.12.2013:Thank you, Neal, for responding via email on January 29that, “There are only 2 places a
tree of that would grow to a larger size can be planted on the property. One by the NE corner of the front door
and then the tree would have to be columnar possible a Alaskan Cedar or a Italian Cypress? The other spot is in
the far NE corner of the property A western red cedar, Douglas fir, a species of pine possible?”Yes, those are
all appropriate solutions (Alaskan Cedar is preferred over the Italian Cypress) for the two replanting areas.
Please revise the attached landscape plan and indicate which species you’ve chosen and the specific location of
the plantings. I will used this revised landscape plan when I compose the staff report and issue the decision.
Kind regards,
