Conditional Use- Waite ADU.pdf City of Edmonds Conditional Use Permit Comments BUILDING DIVISION DATE December 28, 2016 STAFF: Leif Bjorback, Building Official RE: Project: Waite ADU th Project Address: 8310 184 St SW PLN2016-0057 A preliminary review was done with the conditional use materials provided and we have the following comments. 1.A building permit will be required for the modifications to the existing structure. This permit will also include the change of status of the space to an accessory dwelling unit. 2.The International Residential Code definition of Dwelling Unit as amended by the state of Washington requires that all required smoke alarms in the accessory dwelling unit and the primary dwelling unit are interconnected in such a manner that the actuation of one alarm will activate all alarms in both the primary dwelling unit and the accessory dwelling unit. This is in lieu of the fire separation requirements between the units (fire-rated floors, walls and doors). If the option for fire-rated separation is proposed, the construction drawings will need to include the approved listing and details for the wall assembly (and floor-ceiling assembly.) 3.All other applicable requirements of the building code will be verified under the building permit review and inspections.
