Subject: Edmonds Memory Care – Fire Sprinkler Submittal – Plan Review Approval
Mr. Bjorback:
West Coast Code Consultants, Inc. (WC3) has completed the second review (fire only) of the fire sprinkler
submittal for the Edmonds Memory Care project. Our review was based upon the following submittal
documents:
1. Fire sprinkler plans dated 03/18/2016 by Fox Fire Protection, sealed and signed by Adam B.
Cole, certified for fire protection sprinkler systems.
2. Hydraulic calculations dated 12/08/2015.
3. Compiled material data sheets.
The Washington State Building, as currently adopted, and its referenced standards were used as the
basis of our review. We do not have any comments to make at this time and recommend approval of the
fire sprinkler submittal subject to compliance with the attached comments and field inspection. If you
have any questions in regards to this review please do not hesitate to contact me.

The revised fire sprinkler plans and submittals for the above referenced project have been reviewed. The
submittal is APPROVED subject to compliance with the following comments and field inspection.
FIRE REVIEW COMMENTS:
F1. All work is to conform to the 2012 International Fire Code as adopted by the City of Edmonds as
well as the 2010 version of NFPA 13.
F2. All items shall be installed per manufacturers' specifications, including location, spacing, height,
and securely mounted.
F3. All system components shall be supported and restrained as required by Chapter 9 of NFPA 13.
F4. All acceptance tests shall be performed in the presence of the fire inspector as required by
NFPA 13.
F5. Provide a hydraulic design information sign as required by NFPA 13.
F6. Provide at least six spare sprinklers, and at least two of each type, along with the appropriate
wrenches in a spare sprinkler cabinet as required by Section 6.2.9 of NFPA 13.
F7. Provide auxiliary drains as necessary to completely drain all portions of the wet pipe system as
required by Section 8.16.2 of NFPA 13.
F8. Sprinkler spacing and location with respect to obstructions shall be in compliance with Chapter
8 of NFPA 13. Proper spacing of sprinklers shall be verified during field inspection.
F9. Where corrosive conditions exist or piping is exposed to the weather, corrosion -resistant types
of pipe, fittings, and hangers or protective corrosion -resistant coatings shall be used per Section
8.16.4.2 of NFPA 13.
F10. All control, drain, and test connection valves shall be provided with permanently marked
weatherproof metal or rigid plastic identification signs per Section 6.7.4 of NFPA 13. Signs shall
be secured with corrosion resistant wire or chain.
F11. All sprinklers subject to mechanical injury shall be protected with listed guards per Section 6.2.8
of NFPA 13.
F12. All hose connection and fire department connection threads shall be verified prior to final
system acceptance per Section 11.3 of NFPA 14.

F13. Installation of signs as required by the IFC and NFPA 13 shall be provided. Proper signage will be
verified during field inspection.
F14. The stamped drawings, approved by way of these comments, shall be available on site for each
required field inspection.
F15. Contractor shall complete and provide,a copy of the "Contractor's Material and Test Certificate"
for record per Section 25.1 of NFPA 13.
