Dear Mr. Cook,
The City has received a complaint regarding an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) developed at the subject
property.
ADUs are a permitted secondary use in single family zones but do require a conditional use permit and any
associated construction permits. The City does not have a permit for an ADU on file.
Corrective actions required:
Please contact me at your earliest convenience by June 6, 2008 to respond to this letter.

Please submit a complete application and fees by June 30, 2008 for an ADU. If an ADU

application is not submitted and permit obtained, it would be necessary to convert the single
family dwelling back to a single family dwelling by June 30, 2008.
The enclosed Accessory Dwelling Unit handout describes the Planning requirements and criteria to
establish an ADU. The enclosed Work Exempt handout notes the type of construction work that is exempt
from permit requirements.
If you want to discuss ADUs with a planner, please contact the planner on duty on the second floor of
City Hall or at 425-771-0220. The office is closed on Wednesdays. A Permit Coordinator will accept your
application.
