RE: Meeting on site
Subject:
Thank you to everyone for meeting out on the site this morning. Here is a quick report on what was discussed for
everyone to review and make any changes if necessary. Hopefully I have included all of the items that were discussed.
TRAFFIC CONTROL
1. We will not start closing the construction lane on Edmonds Way until 8:30 AM each morning.
2. The construction lane on 100th Ave can still be closed starting at 7:00 AM each morning.
3. We will add a flashing directional arrow sign for the lane closure on the East side of the middle drive entrance to the
McDonald's parking lot. We will start the merging area between the first and second drive entrance to the McDonald's
parking lot.
CONCRETE WORK
1. The curb and gutter on Edmonds Way is acceptable because the gutter can used as a drivable surface. JDC needs to
verify with Mike Gallop that the width of the gutter is acceptable.
2. The water valve cover in the curb and gutter on Edmonds Way needs to be raised so it is flush with the gutter. JDC will
remove the concrete and replace as needed.
3. The concrete curb and gutter will be removed from the East side of the ADA ramp on Edmonds Way to the end of the
new curb and gutter pour on 100th Ave West.
a. The asphalt against the curb and gutter on 100th Ave West will need to be cut back so an edge form can be placed
prior to pouring the new curb. This will provide a clean edge detail on the new curb and gutter.
b. The The ADA ramps will be re-worked according to the City of Edmonds detail in both locations.
4. There are a few issues with some existing structures that need to be resolved prior to this work taking place. (An RFI
has been sent in to Callison to inform them of these conditions and they are reviewing this information with Barghausen
and will get back to us with their recommendations).
a. The base for the existing power cabinet extends past the proposed curb location of the new planter.
b. The traffic control box on the South side of the power cabinet is not shown on the drawings and should be
incorporated into the new planter.
c. The traffic control box on the East side of the power cabinet is going to fall into the proposed ADA ramp. There is a
similar situation at the next intersection West of the site that will be reviewed. They have used a lid at that location
that was incorporated into the ADA ramp. JDC will review this detail and determine if it will work at the proposed ADA
ramp
d. The top of concrete for the base of each box is at a higher elevation than shown. This will cause a conflict with the
new planter and sidewalk that needs to be addressed.
e. The patio area at the front entrance of the building needs to be reviewed and possibly re-designed once the planter
and sidewalk issues are resolved.
5. JDC will schedule a meeting with the City of Edmonds once these issues have been addressed and a design has been
issued back to JDC. This meeting will take place prior to any forming or placing of the concrete in this area.
6. JDC will not remove the curb and gutter until a design has been approved so there is a solid surface for the cars
making the corner from 100th Ave West onto Edmonds Way.
Hopefully I have captured all of the information that we discussed. Again, please e-mail back any changes or information
that I may have written down that is incorrect.
