RE: PLN20140004
State Route 104 "crosswalk"
Dear City Planner and Council Members:
RECEIVED
SPR 17101A
This letter is written to express my whole hearted support for the above project, and to
express appreciation to the City for its efforts facilitating its completion.
As a continually aging resident of Point Edwards, and one who does enjoy walking
around our beautiful area, it has been increasingly perilous to attempt to cross SR 104
at Pine Street. Technically, one is supposed to walk all the way down to the light at the
intersection of Dayton. As a practical matter, such is not often done as it would result in
a lengthy detour to get to Edmonds; such also makes it difficult and cumbersome to
access the City park with the cutest granddaughter on the planet.
Thus, the installation of a cross walk mid -point will definitely help with the safe crossing
of pedestrians into Edmonds proper.
It is so easy for residents to write letters of complaints, yet I believe it is also equally a
responsibility to write letters of support and appreciation. To that end, I do thank you for
helping to make this long -overdue crossing a reality this summer; I also extend the
sincere appreciation of my fellow residents at Point Edwards.
In the event that the City is seeking other worthwhile projects, may 1 invite you to
consider addressing significantly expanding the sidewalk on the West side of SR 104 to
provide a bigger buffer between the cars racing off the ferry and those of us walking
along that very busy street? Doing so would lessen the danger considerably.
