Re: Tree selection for 636-Daily Street
Jennifer,
Brian Goodnight of Goodnight Construction has requested information on street tree
selection and species at 636-Daley Street where Brian is building new condominium. The
Edmonds Street tree plan calls out for “Ginko bilba” A.G. Maidenhair tree. However
after further research this tree which grows up to 120 feet tall and with a tree spread over
35 feet wide is to large for this residential street and the overhead power lines
complicates this issue even more. So I recommend that “Prunus serrulata” Amanagawa
Cherry tree which is recommended in Street Tree plan be installed on Daley Street
rdth
between 3 Avenue and 7 Avenue as indicated in Street Tree Plan. When approved
contractor will be planting four trees in sidewalk area were approved tree grates have
already been installed. Further tree plantings on Daley Street trees will only be installed
during new construction or when other favorable opportunities arise. Once I hear back
from you I will contact Brian Goodnight on new tree selection.
Any questions please contact me.
Thank you,
Rich Lindsay
