Dear Mr. Dent:
This letter summarizes our geotechnical construction -monitoring observations for your single-
family residential project. The site is located at 16330 7511 Place West, in Edmonds,
Washington. We have previously prepared a geotechnical report for the site dated March 12,
2012. We have also prepared a revised plan review and statement of risk letter dated February
14, 2013 and a plan review of storm sewer discharge line and wintertime grading letter dated
August 8, 2013.
We observed geotechnical aspects of construction on a part-time basis from September 11,
2013 to July 23, 2014. Our observations have been documented in Field Reports 1 through 10
As required by the City of Edmonds, we have satisfied the following required geotechnical
special inspection tasks that were set forth in the City of Edmonds - Engineering Division
Special Inspections and Testing Agreement dated August 27, 2013 and the pre -construction
meeting on September 11, 2013.
City of Edmonds Special Inspections requirements include:
1. Soil Bearing Verification and Overexcavation
2. Erosion and Sediment Control
3. Storm Install on Slope
a. Pile Anchors
b. Slope Stability
4. In-place Soil Density Tests of the Structural Fill, if needed,
1. Soil Bearing Verification and Overexcavation
We observed the overexcavation and backfill for the foundations of the building. We
verified that the foundation subgrade soils had been overexcavated a minimum of 2
feet, backfilled with granular structural fill and capable of supporting 1,500 psf as
described in our geotechnical engineering report.

2. Erosion and Sediment Control
We observed erosion control measures while on site and when a rain event of '✓a inch or
more occurred. A silt fence was in place on the west side of the property on the
downhill side of the site. We did not observe any sediment leaving the site during our
visits.
3. Storm Install on Slope
a. Pipe Anchors
We observed the anchors and the pipe in the trench. The pipe was anchored in
accordance with project plans,
b. Slope Stability
We observed the effects of construction on the stability of the slope. We did not
observe any indication of slope movement.
4. In-place soil density tests of the structural fill, as needed
In our opinion, in-place soil density testing on the structural fill was not needed. The
structural fill consisted of clean crushed rock that was placed in accordance with our
geotechnical engineering report.
Based on our observations, it is our opinion that the required geotechnical special inspection
items have been completed per City of Edmonds requirements and approved project plans. In
our opinion the above described earthwork -related activities have been completed in
accordance with our recommendations.
Within the limitations of scope, schedule and budget for our services, we have strived to take
care that our services have been completed in accordance with generally accepted practices
followed in this region at the time this letter was prepared. No other conditions, expressed or
implied, should be understood.
