REQUIREMENTS:

1) Propane tank must be located a minimum of 10’ from the , building, generator or other
ignition sources; NFPA 58 Table 6.3.4.3.
2) Propane tank must be located a minimum of 10’ from adjoining property line. NFPA 58 Table

3) Propane shut off valve is required on the tank. IFC 5803.1.3.1
4) Propane shut off valve is required at the point of use (generator). IFC 5803.1.3.2
5) Sources of ignition. Open flames and high-temperature devices shall not be used in a
manner that creates a hazardous condition. IFC 5303.7.7
6) The container must have the appropriate NFPA 704 sign.
7) No smoking is allowed within 25’ of the tank. One or more signs stating “NO SMOKING
WITHIN 25’ FEET” shall be applied to the tank at a visible location.
