Upon discussing your proposal further with the Planning Manager, it was determined that the maximum allowed sign area for this sign is that of a “group sign” since the church is home to several different nonprofit programs. Thus, the maximum allowed sign area for the proposed sign is 48 square feet. Also, it was determined that the portion of the sign stating “Edmonds United Methodist Church” can be internally illuminated; however, the illumination may only light the letters. Thus, the background of this sign face must be opaque so that no light is emitted through the background. I hope this helps clarify our requirements.
