email to emailed response.pdf First, I don’t review emails, I review submitted plans and resubmitted plans brought in to the Permit Center in response to plan review comments. There currently isn’t a procedure for tracking the submission and review of emailed responses, and since our processes are all part of public record the required method of response is through the Permit Center. The responses to the following will need to be incorporated into construction drawings or an updated permit application resubmitted for review: 1.Yes 2.Yes, the attachment was intended to help you provide the information requested in the plan review comment - The requirements for installation (purlins, corrugated horizontal closure strips, fasteners, etc.) should be noted on the construction documents or referenced and attached to guide proper installation and inspection. 3.I’m asking for additional information that might not be on the submitted construction documents that would justify the use of a selected framing member that appears to be deficient for the stated reasons. If no such information exists, then the selected member must be installed differently (doubled, closer together, shortened span, etc.) or replaced with a different member capable of supporting the loads when installed as shown on the construction documents. 4.Same as #3 5.Same as #3 6.Since there was no ‘Existing Structure’ or similar representation provided, I have no idea what the justification might be for the footings as they were originally constructed. My plan review comment regards the proposed size and placement (existing or new) of footings to be used to support the structure as proposed, letting you know that a 12x12 footing (the ‘low’ side of the variable size given) cannot adequately support the anticipated loads. After obtaining the permit, the Building Inspector may require you to expose one or more sides of an existing footing to verify compliance with that required on the approved construction documents. Hi Chuck, Just checking in to see if you've had a chance to review my last email. If it would be helpful I'm happy to stop by the permit desk and likewise you are welcome to stop by the house to review the existing construction. Regarding each line item: 1.The only things that are retained are the concrete pad some of the concrete footings. The rest of the structure is new. Do you want me to edit the application to reflect this? 2.To confirm, I need to print the PDF you sent me and resubmit with the other new items? Also, I think the plans PDF mention purlins which on my drawing is noted as battens. Is that how you see it too? 3.Can you please clarify what you are looking for here? 4.Same as #3 5.Same as #3 6.The footings are already in place and have been buried. Did you want me to dig one up? I appreciate your help while I get the documentation in order. I don't have any engineering experience and am learning as I go. Thanks!
