BUILDING
Regarding our ADU building permit application (BLD20190429 for 907 Dayton St), here is the
plumbing fixture info you needed:
Existing fixtures:
• Three kitchen sinks (two upstairs, one in the ADU)
• Upstairs between the two bathrooms: one shower, one tub, three sinks, two toilets
• Downstairs ADU bathroom: one tub, one sink, one toilet
• One washing machine upstairs
• In the storage room, one "utility" sink that is pretty much unused.
Added fixtures:
One washing machine in the ADU
I also left you a voice mail regarding a permit for flooring. As part of this project, we are going to
replace the existing wood flooring, kitchen and bathroom cabinets and countertops on the main
level where we live. This is completely unrelated to the ADU application. (The existing flooring was
damaged in the same water leak that went into the basement The ADU is the completely separate
basement part of the house - we live on the main level. )
Do we need a permit for the non-ADU flooring replacement? As I read the "Work exempt from a
building permit" handout you have on the website, this seems to fall in the "finish work" category
(section 1 H) that mentions carpeting, cabinets, tiling, and countertops. Also, section 4(f) also says
we don't need a permit to replace existing exterior siding, so I hope replacing existing flooring "like
for like" is also exempt.
We had our contractor start on the ADU and wanted to finish that before he moved upstairs to the
work on the main level. With the "stop work" on the ADU, I am concerned about a major delay due
to the contractor's crew moving to another job for several weeks. If they stop work on the ADU for
now and move upstairs to start on the non-ADU work. I can mitigate the risk of a major delay.
Please let me know ASAP if the flooring can be done without a permit.
By the way, we were able to arrange for an engineer to come out Sunday morning to look at that
beam the plumbing inspector noted. Hopefully, I can get his report quickly and resolve that
concern.
1 appreciate your help on these permit issues.
