Subject: McDonald Revision - Grinder Pump
Duffy,
I have reviewed the plans you submitted and will need to have the following items addressed before the pump can be
reviewed by our utility engineer.
The sewer pump information that you have provided does not constitute a complete submittal. You need to submit
your calculations showing that this pump will work for this application, especially since you are asking to use a pump
with less than the standard requirement of 2hp. The peak flow curve should be shown on the Performance Curve chart
to show the pump will acceptably meet the demand. Manufacturer's often will run the calcs and provide you with this
information.
On the plans, the north and south invert elevations for the pump basin must be called out and also the invert elevation
at the connection to the gravity line.
In the call out for the pump, please remove "or equal" and add that an anti -flotation concrete base is required. It's in
the handout but contractors have been missing it lately so we now are asking that it be noted on the plans and please
revise the location of the red cloud so we can see the size of the basin required. A minimum of 36" is required below the
inverts, please provide detail showing the system within the basin complete with elevations of inverts, bottom of basin,
concrete base poured to encapsulate the anti -flotation flange, pumps etc. See COE detail E6.7 or E6.8 as references to
the kind of information we are looking for in the detail you provide.
Also, of more concern, is on your plans you have noted that the gravity sewer line has been installed with a minimum of
1% slope. Gravity sewer lines must have a minimum of 2% slope. You are going to have to chase that line with the
force line to a point where you can achieve a 2% slope gravity.
Please review the E#62 handout to be sure that you have provided all of the information required.
Thank you.
