A Krazan geotechnical representative visited the site today to observe rockery construction.
Rockery Construction
The contractor had completed most of the rockery in the northeastern portion of the property. The western
portion of the project was under construction.
It is our understanding that the City of Edmonds has requested an inspection of rockery construction, including
rockery height, subgrade materials, and rock size (per City of Edmonds Standard Rockery Detail, drawing
number E8.9, dated 9/9/05).
Construction generally consisted of rocks approximately 3- to 4-feet in size, and the rockery height was about
4 feet. A short two -tiered rockery was constructed near the northeastern corner of the property. Quarry spalls
had been placed behind the rock face.
We evaluated subgrade soils in the western rockery alignment using a '/2-inch diameter T-probe. The soils
were probed about 2 to 4 inches under moderate pressure, indicating medium dense conditions.
We were informed that the western portion of the rockery along the northern property boundary is nearing
completion.
