As requested, ESNW representative was on site to observe building subgrade and excavation conditions for the
west lot.
The majority of the building excavation for the west lot had been completed prior to ESNW representative arrival.
The excavation is stepped with the upper area consisting of the garage slab and crawl space, the lower portion will
be building slab. The upper few feet of the soil conditions were observed to be variable, loose, and wet fill and
disturbed native soil. The contractor had overexcavated the lower building pad area to expose competent native soil
and will place 2-inch rock to bring back up to design elevations. ESNW representative recommended to bench cut
the east side of the excavation where the upper loose soil is exposed. ESNW representative also recommended to
overexcavate about one foot in the upper garage slab area, and about two feet in the upper footing subgrade areas
and replace with crushed rock; the use of a geotextile fabric was also recommended prior to placing rock if the
exposed native soil is loose.
ESNW will return if requested.
