Mayor Earling,
Responded yesterday to a residential fire at the above address. The fire is determined to be accidental and was contained to the outside of the residence. Friend of the homeowner was
helping to eliminate weeds in gardens around residence. It appears that in burning some of the weeds, bark and/or mulch was ignited under the condenser unit of the heat pump. It then
spread to the siding and quickly up the side of the home.
Estimated loss was $25,000. No displacement of occupants.
The quick action of a Fire Captain (Seattle) and neighbor along with South County crews resulted in minimal loss of property. South County Lynnwood prevention was also available to help
investigate if needed. Great teamwork of community and Fire Department.
