Hyperbaric O2 Tank.DOC EDMONDS FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM Date: 8/20/2008 To: File From: Mike Smith, Acting Fire Marshal 425-775-7720 Subject: Plan Check BLD20080528 Wound & Hyperbaric Chamber The Fire Department has the following comments: 1) The installation of the bulk liquid oxygen storage tank shall comply with 2006 IFC Chapter 32, NFPA 55 and other relevant chapters in IBC, IFC and Plumbing Codes. Please reference the minimum separation distances in Chapter 9 of NFPA 55 and verify they are correct on your site plan. 2) Verify the termination of the hyperbaric chambers vent pipe is away from all windows that may open and other sources of hazards (mechanical motors, air intakes to the building, etc) and the pipe is labeled as such. 3) Per the 2006 IFC each medical gas room (closet) constitutes a control area. You show 2 existing on the floor with a third proposed. A maximum of 3 control rooms are allowed on this floor. Your storage of O2 cylinders for this project states you are well under the non permitted amount. I will field check the total at project final. 4) Please provide a Hazardous Materials Management Plan prior to final. IFC 2701.5.1
