Leif & all:
Pat said he would stop by today to evaluate.
A house fire call came in 8/25 around 2:30 p.m.at subject address. Crews found front porch burned due to carelessly
discarded smoking materials and eventually extinguished the fire. The fire had entered the wall space adjacent to front
door. The damage was of limited, if any, structural problem and was stopped at the header. Aluminum siding was torn
away as was the soffit to investigate furthest extent of flame damage. Smoke did infiltrate into household and fans
helped to remove the smoke condition inside. The wall space contains a light switch and circuit so main breakers were
opened by firefighters during operations.
While removing smoke from inside we ran into a private medical marijuana garden in a back room. The garden seems
legitimate and the renter says he has Rx. EPD viewed also and will have no follow-up. The garden system had nothing to
do with the fire.
PUD has removed the meter as a precaution and disconnected service at FD request due to possibility of wiring around
the main breakers to the dwelling. There was nothing to indicate illegal wiring this was only precaution. Owner/trustor
will be meeting with PUD representative today to further evaluate and likely bring in electrician to verify safe wiring
before they reconnect service.
The renter has relocated due to fire department recommendations about livability with residual smoke condition. Water
is still on at house.
I told the owner/trustor to expect a reminder letter from you about obtaining proper permit(s). Pat said he will bring his
recommendation for you if no letter required.
Dwelling trustor: John Boone (425)773-0369, address 8314 218th St SW, Edmonds 98026.
