SCOPE OF WORK: All work represents curing of accumulated normal maintenance
and upkeep, and some curing of minor water damage, that was neglected and
deferred over the last 15 to 20 years.
None of the work contemplated involves structural, mechanical, or electrical
systems changes and/or modifications.
To the best of our knowledge, all contemplated work on the property would be
EXEMPT from requiring a building permit under the publication "City of Edmonds
— WORK EXEMPT FROM BUILDING PERMIT", Item 4; Residential Permit
Exemptions: sec's. (e), (f), ((g), (h), (1), (k), and (1).
EXTERIOR:
SIDING: Replace small areas of deterioration, scrub, scrape, caulk, and
re -paint siding, shingles, and trim.
hj / ROOF: Clean and power wash, replace small areas or deteriorated
sheathin nstall new flashing and composition roofing material over single layer
of existing composition roofing.
IU /'WINDOWS: Replace four broken and/or badly deteriorated windows.
GUTTERS: Re -align as required for proper slope, replace several small

WALLS/CEILING: Repair, replace, small areas of water damaged sheet rock
and prep and re -paint thru out interior. Replace old and dis-colored electric
switches, outlets, and covers. Replace old and deteriorated lighting fixtures.

Repair/replace small area of water damaged sub -floor and install new floor
covering in Kitchen, Laundry room, and rear entry hall. Replace small area of

and refrigerator. Replace hood/exhaust-fan/ light unit over stove. Replace
counter top and lighting fixtures.
✓ BATHROOMS: Replace small area of deteriorated sheep trock and Subfloor
around toilet area and shower area, and replace toilet, vanity/smk, shower pan,
and enclosure in % bath. Replace toilet, tub enclosure, and sink/vanity in full
bath. Re -finish old tub in full bath. Replace old exhaust fans and light units in
both baths. Replace medicine cabinets and light fixtures, aucets, etc. Replace
floor coverings.
LIVING/DINING ROOM, and HALLWAYS: Prepare and paint, install new
carpet. Repair small area of water damaged mall in ceiling and wall of bay
window.
BEEDROOMS: Prepare and paint, install new carpet. Replace small area of
water damaged drywall in ceiling and wall of MBR closet.
✓ DETACHED GARAGE: Prep and Paint shingles and trim, replace section of
gutter, and facia, and pressure wash and install new comp roofing over existing

(b) Reinstallation or replacement of approved prefabricated plumbing fixtures that do not involve or
require the replacement or rearrangement of valves or pipes.
In addition the following exemptions apply for single family dwellings:

(a) One (1) story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar
uses; provided the floor area (measured to the exterior wall or post) does not exceed 200 square feet, with
a maximum cave of twelve (12) inches and maximum height of fifteen (15) feet. Vehicle storage
structures, such as garages and carports, are not exempted.
(b) Window awnings supported by an exterior wall and do not project more than fifty-four (54) inches
from the exterior wall and do not require additional support. ECDC Title 23 provisions shall not apply to
such awnings.
(c) Sport courts less than 2,000 square feet.
(d) Dock repair of individual decking members. ECDC Title 23 provisions shall not apply.
(e) Replscenment or repair of existing extatior siding. ECDC Title 23 provisions shall not apply.

Dear Mr. Lawler,
In reply to the referenced notice, please be advised that we have not applied for a "remodel
work permit" because the scope of maintenance and repair we are doing at the referenced
property does not constitute "remodeling" but rather represents the curing of accumulated
normal maintenance and upkeep, and some curing of minor water damage, that was neglected
and deferred over the last 15 to 20 years.
None of the work involves structural, mechanical, or electrical systems changes and/or
modifications, and all work is EXEMPT from requiring a building permit under the publication
"City of Edmonds — WORK EXEMPT FROM BUILDING PERMIT", Item 1, general, sec's. (b), (h), (1),
(o); Item 2, sec (a); item 3, sec. (b); and Item 4, Residential Permit Exemptions: sec's. (e), (f),

Deferred maintenance we have corrected includes the following items:
