Dear Mr. Folgedalen,
The City received a complaint that significant construction was taking place inside the residence
at the subject property, possibly requiring a building permit. I did stop by the house on March 12,
2018 and the workers said they were building a shed under 200 square feet. I told them to note
the required setbacks. I did return your call at 206-799-9931 and left a message on the same date.
I have enclosed a list of construction work that is exempt from a building permit. Please review
these exemptions. If you are doing any construction that is not exempt, please make a complete
application for that work by March 30, 2018. Should it be determined after March 30, 2018 that
unpermitted and non-exempt construction has taken place, additional penalty fees can be
applicable, up to 5x the original permit cost.
A Permit Coordinator will accept your application and can answer specific questions regarding
permit requirements as related to your construction. Handouts describing permit application
requirements are available on-line or in the Development Services office on the 2" floor of City
