Westfall Cc: Bjorback, Leif Subject: RE: Kruger Clinic AHC Greetings John. I just received approval from the building owner for the cross -corridor doors on Saturday, so I should be able to revise the letter and get it to you this week. Regarding the occupancy type, both suites would be considered B-Occupancy, however they would be considered different uses. The clinic side would be the clinic, outpatient and the hyperbaric chamber side ambulatory care facility. will add that clarification to the letter when I revise it. Thank you. It would be helpful during our review to have that rather than make presumptions. Also, your plans show B occupancy for the center. I thought you might want to consolidate the work and the permit to go direct to ambulatory healthcare occupancy. What is your intent with this first set of plans? Thankyou John J. Tenant space is 1,979 s.f. proposed on level of exit discharge with existing 1 hr FR corridor and automatic smoke detection in corridor. These are CLASS B (NFPA 99) chambers are capsule for patient alone. NFPA 99 provides direction for Hyperbaric Facilities until 4 or more "incapable of self -rescue" and some prescriptions from NFPA 101 for separations of Ambulatory Care Facility. 1. Sprinklers: Sprinkler "hazard area" to 2 hr FR separation from rest of building that is excluding non-hyperbaric medical care offices across corridor. NFPA 101 requires only "specific hazard" to be sprinklered which would be hyperbaric chamber room. ICC requires "entire floor" to be sprinklered. A limited commentary from ICC is given, probably for purposes of protected egress in evacuation scenario. We prefer to look to protecting the hazard area and feel adequate to smoke detect the corridors for early warning of egress purposes. 2. Separations: provide 2 hr FR and smoke -protection in hyperbaric treatment area AND a 1 hr FR assembly across corridor west of ACF. Improves the 1 hr FR requirement from IBC 708 and NFPA 101. Doors across corridor provide means for inside smoke - protected horizontal egress in evacuation scenario. Also, the corridor doors feature separates a design complication into floor 2 due to open stair at SW building entry. 3. Fire alarm: automatic and manual throughout building corridors for building notification of sprinkler water flow, opening protectives, and smoke-detection/manual activation inside hyperbaric treatment area of ACF. Applicant will provide as-builts for fire alarm system in corridors and new proposal for proposed system devices. 4. Bulk Oxygen: still need volume to determine setback requirements from property lines and building. Also, please provide the volume and type of gases used as "emergency" backup that is in the open hyperbaric treatment area. If you have questions, please let Leif and I know. John J.
